1935

In 1935 Dr. Cooley finished the first non-emergent hospital in Brigham City. The entire top floor was dedicated to moms and babies! In the North East corner surrounded by beautiful mint green tiles moms would welcome their bundles of joy into the world! The adjacent room connected by a small doorway had a wall of pastel yellow and pink tiles. This was the newborn nursery! I don’t think Dr. Cooley had any idea that 84 years later it would be a newborn studio and hold tiny little babies again!

In 2018 I entered this hospital with a very patient real estate agent, an even more patient husband and a very good photographer friend. The building was full of potential and equally full of natural light. The labor and delivery room immediately stole my heart! I knew that if this building were to house a studio, that this room needed to be the home to a newborn studio! It just felt like the perfect fit!

2019

In June of 2019 the paint was dry and the props were loaded and the newborn room was officially ready for lots of tiny bundles! I can hardly wait to see what amazing pictures begin in this room!

My favorite part of the newborn studio will probably always be the mint green tiles surrounding the built in cabinet. I knew from the moment I saw them that they needed to remain in tact. I felt it would honor all the nurses, doctors, moms and babies that entered this room for 41 years!

My second favorite part would have to be the wall of windows. We added black out curtains for our photographers who shoot with strobe lights. The curtains can be pulled open for our photographers who shoot natural light!
